The tourism sector (including travel, hospitality, food etc.) contributed a total of about USD 10 trillion to the global economy. About 1.5 billion people travelled to a tourist destination in 2019, spending aabout USD 4.2 billion.

If the accommodation, food, entertainment, and transport sectors are included in tourism, then the sector as a whole employs one in 10 persons worldwide, making it the largest economic sectors in the world.
