The GDRC Programme on Sustainable Business
So what is the justification for business to be more sustainable? How can a case be made for sustainability?
About
Sustainability is good business!
Research Resources

GDRC's programme on Sustainable Business focuses on the ecosystem that is needed to promote sustainability in businesses. It takes its genesis from the ongoing paradigm shift from curative and remedial environmental solutions to preventive and management solutions, encompasing pollution prevention, LCA/material flows, industrial symbiosis, consumer education and related issues
Why should businesses embrase sustainabiility? Internally, as a business, there are three arguments to support the adoption of sustainability policies (social + environmental + economic goals). Firstly, it relates to the fact that strong sustainablity policies leads to cost-savings that results in increased profits. Secondly, a business that adopts sustainability can create new business opportunities and increase their market shares. Thirdly, a business can in fact use it for building the brand and manage their overall reputation.

What is GDRC doing now?
Currently, GDRC is focussing on support services and programmes that local governments can implement to enable companies to be more sustainable (for example, by creating 'eco-towns'). It is doing this within the overall context of a circular economy.
