Maria Molina,
Chile
Maria Molina is a 60-year-old mother of two and grandmother of five. Years ago she found
herself without a job and decided to start working independently in her specialty, sewing.
Fundacion Contigo came to Maria's village and allowed her to expand her sewing business.
She received three loans of US$350, US$930 and US$1,160 that enabled her to buy fabrics
and sewing machines and improve the quality and quantity of her output. Maria now employs
three people and has increased the equity of her business from US$880 to US$7,000.
Maria says that she felt very welcome in Contigo. "In Contigo, they taught me how to
organize myself, to figure out my expenses, to manage my business better, and more
importantly, how to offer my products without being afraid."
