World Meteriological Day

World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and " ... showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world. The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate, water and environment-related issues".

The World Meteriological Day also commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization.

"The Future of Weather, Climate and Water across Generations"

The ocean and climate are intrinsically linked!

Weather, climate and water extremes are becoming more frequent and intense in many parts of the world as a result of climate change. More of us are exposed than ever before to multiple related hazards, which are themselves evolving as a result of population growth, urbanization and environmental degradation.

GDRC reaffirms its committment to uphold the objectives of the World Meteriological Day, and work towards better understanding of, and action on raising awareness on issues related to topical weather, climate and water-related issues.
